Zoological Garden

The zoo is located on the highest altitudine of the city on Cornesti Plateau, where you can admire the panoramic view of the river Mures and Tirgu Mures city. The zoo is one of the most important attractions for locals and tourists.

Tirgu Mures zoo is divided into five sections: a space where you can admire carnivores, one with herbivores, a space with birds, a tropical area and an area with primates.

Founded in the 60s, the zoo had only 10 animals at its inauguration. In 1965, the garden was extended by 20 hectares. Along the way several constructions were built: the Lion House, the Exotic Pavilion where visitors can admire fish aquariums, parrot cages and terrariums with reptiles. The zoo also contains the Bears Den and the Reptile Pavilion.

Currently, the zoo has about 500 animals – local fauna and exotic.

On Corneşti plateau, children can ride a train crossing Zoo. Here, the adults can relax in an area shaded by trees which transform the space into an oasis of relaxation for tourists and locals alike.
