We invite you to discover a fascinating world of wildlife at the Târgu Mureș Zoo, located on the picturesque Cornești Plateau, the highest point of the city. From here, you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over Târgu Mureș and its surroundings.
Covering an impressive 42 hectares, Târgu Mureș Zoo is the largest zoological garden in Romania. It is home to over 800 animals from around 150 local and exotic species. What truly makes it unique is that it is the only zoo in the country that proudly hosts elephants, giraffes, and gibbons in its collection, and the only one that offers visitors the chance to get up close to the animals in special walk-through enclosures.
For a complete experience, we recommend setting aside at least 2–3 hours for your visit, which can become even more engaging if you plan it around the daily feeding programs dedicated to species such as giraffes or mandrills — part of the zoo’s educational mission.
The Zoo is undergoing a continuous process of modernization and is constantly enriching its collection with new and rare residents, such as the North Chinese leopard and flamingos.
In addition to visiting the animals, the Cornești Plateau also offers a modern recreational park with a playground, bike paths, and fitness areas — turning a simple visit into a full day of fun in nature for the whole family. We look forward to welcoming you!
